Vodka Pills

Wow, how lazy can we get? Researchers in a Russian university have apparently come up with a form of powdered alcohol.

"Russian professor Evgeny Moskalev of Saint Petersburg Technological University has evolved a technique that allows turning alcohol into powder and packing it in pills. The new technique can solidify any kind of alcohol, including whisky, cognac, wine and beer. The new technique can solidify any kind of alcohol, including whisky, cognac, wine and beer.

“Dry” vodka can be wrapped in paper and carried around in a pocket or a bag. Vodka in form of a pill would come handy at parties when “consumers” would be able to calculate their exact required dosage.
"

Time to get one of these so we do not miss our daily usage.

A Li Yaa - Damansara Heights

So, over the weekend we went to this Sri Lankan bar/restaurant named A Li Yaa.

It is situated next to Jarrod & Rawlins, I'm sure most of you know where that establisment is. Anyway, the address and contact for A Li Yaa is provided below.

Now, on to the drinks. During our meal, I ordered a bottle of Heineken (RM13) and she ordered a pint of Kilkenny (RM23). I would've preferred a Heineken draft but they were out of Heineken that night.
Check out the cool Heineken tap;

Cool ain't it?

The signature drinks at A Li Yaa are pretty interesting. With names like Elephant Walk, Aliyaa Orgasm, Aliyaa Shaker, Neela Maayam, and etc.

I ordered the Kumari Cooler(RM18). Which is a mixture of Mendis (Sri Lankan whisky), cherry brandy liquer, soda water and grenadine.

Kumari Cooler (RM18)

I chose the Kumari Cooler because I wanted to try Sri Lankan whisky. It turned out to be a very sweet drink, with a tinge of sour at the end. Probably due to the cherry brandy and the cherry fruit in the drink.

My date chose the Neela Maayam (RM19), which is a mixture of gin, lychee liquer, pineapple juice & blue caracao.

This drink was rather sweet and I liked how the pineapple wasn't too overpowering.
If you have nothing else better to do, or would like to try some rather interesting cocktails, head on down to A Li Yaa.

SOULed Out - Desa Sri Hartamas

By now, everyone should/would have heard of or been to SOULed Out in Sri Hartamas. But if you haven't, you should.

Happy Hours at SOULed Out starts at 6pm and goes all the way until the closing hours.
2 pints of Guinness was going for RM32. So RM16 per pint. Not bad eh.

Something to go along with the Guinness would be their famous woodfire pizzas.
Pictured below is our 8" Beefed Out pizza, RM23.

Or if Guinness is not your fancy, you can go for their wide range of draft beers, or their wine promo which is RM130 for a bottle of red or white. The waiter was explaining to me that the wine is a blend of the 4 main wine grapes, which is Pinot noir, Cabernet sauvignon, Sauvignon blanc & Merlot (RED) and Chardonnay, Italian Riesling, Ugni blanc & Sauvignon blanc for the WHITE.

Not sure how true the above is, but that was what the waiter told me. Give it a try.
Now, one thing about Mabuk2Malaysia is we make it a point to order something unique from every watering hole we patronage.

What caught my attention in SOULed OUt was this "Guinness Lychee Shooter". It's a combination of Guinness Stout, Monin lychee syrup, Monin lychees and some sort of cream.

A set of 10 shooters costs only RM24. Comes served on a bed of ice.

The Guinness Lychee Shooters were rather nice. Imagine a hint of Guinness Stout, followed by the sweetness of the lychee syrup, the frothy texture of the cream and followed by the tender lychee fruit.

Cider addicts can go for their Strongbow which was RM28 per pint.

Here are more shots from SOULed Out;

Prawn Aglio Olio (RM23)

Fish n Chips (RM23)

Yummy

After a good meal and drinks.
